About Us

The Science and Technology Facilities Council (STFC), part of UK Research and Innovation, has a mission to drive research and innovation in space science, particle physics and astronomy. STFC has world class facilities and national campus across the UK that bring together with universities and industry to generate new ideas and discoveries. A core aim of STFC is to inspire and involve people with our research through the support of the Public Engagement Group.

Public Engagement Group is passionate about connecting our communities with the wonders of our science and technology. We work in two key areas: funding opportunities for public engagement activities linked to STFC science, and delivery and development of activities supported by staff at our National Lab sites. These activities are typically delivered at our three main National Lab sites: Daresbury Laboratory, Cheshire, Rutherford Appleton Laboratory, Oxfordshire and UK Astronomy and Technology Centre, Edinburgh.

We offer a range of free activities to support our local communities, from school workshops to community events and public access days. To find out more about upcoming events, please visit our Events page.

In addition to public events, we also produce resources to help inspire others about STFC science and technology, which can be found on our Resources pages.
